Frequently Asked Questions

You probably have some questions about how renting party decor works.

If we don't answer yours below, please email rentdecorkit@gmail.com for help.

Q: How am I saving money by renting decor?

A: Each kit we've assembled contains items that in total cost $200 minimum. Our rental fees are significantly less than the actual cost since you're renting them for a one-time use. Also, time is money! We've sourced items from various vendors to save you the effort.

Q: What happens to the decor between rentals?

A: We know the cleanliness and quality of the items you're renting is top of mind, particularly on the heels of a pandemic. This is very important to us too. After each rental, we inspect the kit's content to ensure everything has been returned and is in good shape. Then we clean kit items and store them in a cool, dry, smoke-free and pet-free storage area.

Q: Where are your delivery boundaries?

A: Our delivery boundaries are focused in west Toronto. They include Royal York Avenue to the west, Dufferin Street to the east, Lakeshore Avenue to the south, and Dundas Street West to the north. By keeping within these boundaries, we can ensure timely and reliable service.

Q: How much time do I have to set up the kit?

A: Unboxing your Decor Kit is part of the fun. We'll deliver your kit to your front door (or designated location) so you have one full day before your party date to set up. For example, if your party is Saturday, we'll deliver the box Thursday afternoon/evening. Pick-up in this case would be Sunday.

Q: How does pick up work?

A: Pick up of the Decor Kit will be the day after your party. To help ensure the integrity of the decor, we suggest you pack the items back up as soon as possible after the party. Please leave the Decor Kit at the same location you received it and a member of our team will retrieve it. We'll be in touch with you by text message to make sure drop off and pick up is as smooth as possible.

Q: What if I lose or damage an item in the kit?

A: We know accidents happen especially with little party-goers involved, but we also have to ensure we supply quality items to our renters. That being said, the damage deposit added to the rental fee is only returned if all items remain in good condition. If our inspection upon return shows irreparable damage or a missing item, we keep the damage deposit to help us replace it.

Q: How do I hang wall decor without damaging it?

A: Any wall decor in the kits can be hung with the use of sticky tack or clear tape (provided). While the temporary adhesives are wall-safe, Decor Kit is not responsible for any damage incurred to party hosts' property. Please do not use any other adhesives on the decor.

Q: Why is there only table-top and wall decor included?

A: The decor in each kit has been selected for a tablescape (a centrepiece table where you may set up the cake, food, etc.) and the wall behind it. All guests can enjoy the decor in this central location, it will serve as a great backdrop for photos and it's up high enough to be away from little hands. We've included pieces that can be set up in a variety of ways to suit your space.

Q: You don't offer the theme I'm looking for - will you be adding more in the future?

A: We're open to hearing your ideas for themed kits as we work to build our inventory. Please email us at rentdecorkit@gmail.com, and we'll consider your request for future party themes. Also, follow us on Instagram at @rentdecorkit - this is the best place to hear about new offerings and secure your rental date.

Q: How do I rent a Decor Kit?

A: Please visit the Reserve a Kit page, fill out the required fields and submit the form. We'll connect with you within 24 hours to confirm availability of the desired Decor Kit and complete the process. A signed rental waiver is required to secure your rental date as well as an e-transfer payment, including the damage deposit. We'll explain all of this to you in more detail when we receive your form.

Q: I need plates and cutlery too. Do you offer these in your kits?

A: Our focus is reusable decor items. As we're trying to encourage hosting parties with less waste, you may consider opting for using washable plates and cutlery you have at home. Should you need disposable utensils or food-serving items for the party, we've found these are either provided by a caterer or available at grocery stores.
